United States Becomes Only Global Power
After Russia transformed itself into a capitalist economy and a democratic government at the end of the Cold War, The United States was left alone as the only great world power. While many other nations were also on the rise such as China and India, they lacked the cultural, economical, and military might of America in the 1990's. This is because of America's dominant robust economy and it's versatile democracy which gave more freedoms to each citizen. Each citizen in America plays an integral part of the country's future and decision making while in communist countries a citizen is merely just another part of the state. In America you could start from any social class and work your way up to achieve success. This became known as the American Dream. The American Dream is the underlying truth why democracy and capitalism will always triumph over communism and totalitarianism.
A Divided Korea
As a result of the Korean War, the Korean Peninsula has been spilt in two with Communist North Korea, led by the tyrant Kim Jong Un, and Democratic South Korea, led by president Park Geun-hye, divided by the 38th parallel. The two nations have had hostile relations ever since the end of the war especially with speculations surrounding North Korea's possible acquisition of a nuclear weapon. Meanwhile South Korea , like Japan, has thrived with the support of Western allies and has grown into one of the leading nations in Asia. The two nations are separated by a Demilitarized Zone along the 38th parallel which is heavily guarded by troops of both countries. To this the day the rivalry between both nations is among the most fierce of any rivalry in the world.

Communist China
After the Chinese communist party won the Chinese civil war in 1950, China became a communist state under the official title of the People's Republic of China. The communist takeover in China led to hostile relations between China and the United States and the two sides never even made official contact with each other until Richard Nixon visited the Chinese mainland in 1972 establishing a new foreign policy of Détente with China. Although China has relaxed its economic policies to allow for a more free market economy to operate, it still enforces a strict totalitarian form of government.
